Today I tried to sign in to our guestbook using the only username and password we have ever used, and I am getting an invalid password message.

It is not a typo as I have tried this about 50 times using the same info as we were sent with the original confirmation message when we set it up.

Is there a way our password could be reset? Thank you

So long as you are using the latest version you will find a file in the misc directory called forgot_pass.php. Just visit it in your web browser.

Hi, I am using version 2.4.1.
I don't see any misc folder when I look in the directory. Is it a subfolder I can look for somewhere?
our guestbook may be found at http://www.positiveexposure.org/guestbook/index.php

I tried visiting http://www.positiveexposure.org/guestbook/misc/forgot_pass.php and the file does not exist.

I am sorry if this is an obvious question but could you tell me what URL to use?

Well you could do with updating to 2.4.3 anyway.
Download full guestbook package and extract from the zip.
Delete the config.inc.php file from the files you just extracted.
Backup your existing guestbook files.
Upload the new files to replace your old files.
Visit misc/update_db.php in your web browser

After all that try the forgot_pass.php file again

Hi, there.
I took your advice and updated to 2.4.3.
found the file
forget_pass.php

but when i try to log in it prompts me for the name of the database.
when I go into the cpanel for my website, it lists the database name as either rick_agbook1 or _agbook1

When I enter either of these two names in, along with the username and password, i get the following error message.

Can you help?

You will find the required information in the config.inc.php file which is found in the admin folder of th eguestbook.

Hello,

i got almoust the same problem, i logged in and all working fine.
Later new login, password seems to be changed, can not get in.

I tried out the file "forget_pass.php" in the "misc" folder.

You have to know your host, database-name, user (for the database), password (of the database), informations you should find in "config.inc.php" file. You fill in these informations, then you can set a new admin-name and password - great, i'm happy! Thanks to the programmers!
