Ok I've rewritten my script for resetting your Advanced guestbooks password. Simply download -------------------------- and extract the reset.php file. Upload this file to your guestbooks directory. Visit the reset.php file in your web browser (ie goto www.YOURDOMAIN.com/guestbook/reset.php ) and input your MySQL password. You can find the password in your admin/config.inc.php file. then click submit. Remember to delete the file once you are done.

I have written a better reset script and it is available from http://carbonize.co.uk/Lazarus/Forum/index.php?topic=8.0

I'll possibly look at rewriting it to let you inout the new username and password but only if the others feel this would be needed.

If you want it tested carbonize I'm game.

Yep it works, only on my computer the text entry box on the form is the same colour as the curser.

Didn't think it was working at first.

Yeah but I like the colour scheme. better than white. I tested it on my sites guestbook and it worked fine. Hopefully this should help those that need to reset the password and username.

Thats the thing about exploits. You sometimes don't realise they exist until they are used on you.

Missed the cross site exploit fix. Got hit by the same jerk again. Fixed it correctly this time. Man what a pain. I would suggest removing any foreign language php files that you don't use. He turned it to russian so I couldn't tell what I was doing. (Added robots.txt, .htaccess, changed password, cross site exploit fix, removed most language files except english, added bad guy ip to deny list.) I hope this is the end of it for now.

Missed the cross site exploit fix.
How do you know it was this exploit used?

ok, tried the script, but it didn't work. what i am not clear on here is, if i change the username and pass in the reset.php script before i upload it are these supposed to be my new username and password? if so, it did not work. or does it reset to the default, and yes i know this is a silly question, but what is the default? thanks for the help.

best,

michael
