I have Advanced guestbook 2.2 I get mass spam everynow and then. I just go through and delete the entries. I've turned off html and added the human verification but still get them. Is there a way to prevent this? Should I upgrade? if so, what do I upgrade to get 2.2 to Lazarus.
Thank you
Love the guestbook, just hate the spam i've been gettin lately.

I wrote a script to upgrade 2.2 to 2.3.x. It is available from www.carbonize.co.uk/AG and updating is highly recommended due to exploits. Update to either 2.4.1 or Lazarus. It's upto you.

Will I lose my current entries if I upgrade? I currently have about 400 and was hoping not to. The upgrade says "Please note that it may still have a few bugs and you will lose and pictures that were in the entries due to a change in how the info is stored". does that just mean I will lose pictures? i'm ok with that but the entries and emails I'm kinda hoping to keep.
Thanks for the help. this site is great

Well you shouldn't lose the entries. I always recommend making a backup of the database before running any script designed to alter it.

Make a back up and then run the updater.

You can make a back using phpmyadmin.
This is supported bij most hosting providers thru your c-panel.

well now that I tried to go in to update my login has changed. I've run the reset.php and it changes my password and I am able to login but when the admin screen comes up, no matter what I click on, it kicks me back to the guestbook login screen. I'm still running 2.2 and want to upgrade. any ideas?
thanks for all your help

This seems to be happening a lot lately. I wonder if they've changed the timestamp format.

You can upgrade if you wish. I need to change my 2.2 to 2.3.x script so it is 2.2 to 2.4.x but that wont be anytime soon.

I will look into the timestamp issue. Can't see them having changed it but you never know.
