Hi,

I am at 2.4.3 upgrade already but i am still seriously spammed everyday.

Is there any suggestion from you to prevent this?

Thanks a lot.

Also, there are some spams that I cannot delete because there are attachments of the messages and moved the "replies of messages" right, and the "edit/delete" is hidden.

Here is a screenshot where you can see message 596 the 2 "replies of message", there are no "edit/delete".

How would you suggest me to solve this?

Many thanks.

Well one way would be to read the source code and get the delete link from that or you could use phpMyAdmin if your host provides it and delete them directly from the database.

Failing that take a look at Lazarus.

I have successfully installed the Lazarus. Thanks a bunch.

However, at the security section, i can't activate "Use image verification (CAPTCHA)." It says, "Sorry but you do not have GD installed and so cannot use image verification"

How should I solve it?

Thanks.

Did CAPTCHA work in AG ?

You can use the question/answer method for now.

Ah no you don't have GD installed on your server which is damn weird as it's free and tends to come with PHP anyway. AG has CAPTCHA because it creates a bitmap captcha image to use which is something I haven't got round ot yet.

I'd suggest using the question & answer method I put in to Lazarus as it is just as effective as CAPTCHA or perhaps even more so since bots can read some captcha but they wouldn't understand the question/instructions in SAPTCHA (the questin & answer method).

At some point in the future I will be implementing reCaptcha support so GD won't be an issue. Downside being it's English only.

Thanks for answering. I have no idea about the server as I am using a hosting service right now.

I am just curious, how do those bots work? If i put a question there, will a person answer it the first time and repetatively use the bot the answer the same answer to spam attack me?

I will ask the hosting if they can have the GD installed. Whats the full name of GD may I ask?

A spammer will not take the time to visit each site since they need to spam hundreds if not thousands of sites to make it worthwhile. And even if someone does you can quickly change the answer or bock their ip. Can even block by certain words.

so that means those bots actually can read the images produced by AG2.4.3 to get through the security checks by themselves? they really are smart.

Sorry for silly questions as I am like half computer illiterate.
