Hi, I'm relativly new to the Advanced Guestbook. My host allows pre-installed scripts in the cgi center and the advanced guestbook was one of them. I installed it and everything was fine. I logged in but I cannot change the username or password. Do I have to create a new MYSQL database for it? My host enables MySQL and php so that is not a problem. The Guestbook works fine, I just can't change my user or pass. It always says "passwords do not match" Can anyone help? Thanks.

Hi,

There is an typo in the guestbook.
it asks for "Your Current Password" but you have to type your new password there and and repeat it at "Confirm New Password"

You will need PHPadmin for this.

[Method 1]
Select the Guestbook database.
Select book_auth.
Now choose Browse.
You now see the admin username and password.
Select edit.
Now paste Code:

in the password field and click “GO”.

This will reset your account to:

Your admin name and the password will be: 123

Or do it like this.

[Method 2]
Select the Guestbook database
Now choose on the right side of screen select SQL
Now insert in the Data Entry Field the following lines:

Code:

And click "GO"

This will reset your account to:

User name: test
Password: 123

What about trying Carbonize's reset script. You can search for it on the forum or find the thread for Advanced Guestbook Fixes and Mods. It's listed in there.

Hi,

I tried all the solution but could not access the admin page. it kept telling me "Invalid username or password. Please try again"

I have resetted the user and password in book_auth but still it does not allow me to admin panel

My reset script didn't work. I'll make one from scratch rather than editing the install.php.

I am not the maker of the Advanced Guestbook

Thanks for the help with changing my username and password. I had been hacked! What an awful thing to do to people at Christmas time! Thanks to great people like you who have helped correct it.

Happy holidays!
