Are you sure you are using the Advanced Guestbook from this site as you are getting error messages about files called extension.inc and a flder called common which are not part of Advanced Guestbook 2.3.x. They may be part of Advanced Guestbook 1.5 which is written in Perl and does not use a database but I cannot download it to check as my works have blocked the downloading of zip files.

I may be using the older version of guestbook, but when I click on the link in my guestbook it brought me here so I am sure there is some affiliation. Is there a way to transfer my old entries and just go with the newer version and delete the old one entirely?

By older version what do you mean? Guestbook 1.5 or 2.2?

Well, its even harder for me to find out now that all I see is all kinds of error type warning messages. I think its a lost cause at this point

Go to the guestbook folder and if it contains a folder called templates check the file called footer.php as this will contain the version number.

If it uses the .pl file extension then it is 1.5

~sigh~ Any change you have a readme for people who dont know what the hell they are doing when it comes to guestbook? I got to the "3. Run the install script http://www.yourDomain.com/lazarusgb/install.php
and select either install or update." part and for the life of me I cant get past this part. It sends me to a screen where I need to enter the four fields and it always gives me an error when I try to create the table. Am I even doing this right?

Sounds like you are talking about the Advanced Guestbook install.php file there.

No carb he isnt. Your new version 1.5.1 Has 4 fields it wants filled in if it is a new install. Sounds to me like he doesnt know how to set up his config.php file or how to setup a mysql database.

host
dbname
dbusername
dbpassword

I have used the script and reset my password fine.

However - when I not try and chang the password within the Admin of thhe Guestbook I get

"Passwords do not match"

I have tried different combination (I read somewhere the fields were the opposite way around) but nothing seems to work.

Please can you help?

Cheers
