password protect signing - can it be done?  XML

Hi

I know it is easy to password protect the 'comments' feature of Advanced Guestbook but is it possible to protect the 'signing' (addentry.php) page? i.e. so only those who are given a password can sign the book?

Thanks

Actually, what I am trying to achieve is the possibility to use the guestbook as a kind of 'ads page' - so I (or someone else with permission) can easily upload a picture and item description of something for sale. Of course I can cut out all links to the sign page but that won't stop someone finding it and uploading trash!

Maybe someone knows of an alternative software? All of the 'community forum' type facilities are way too complcated for what I want.

Look into using a .htaccess and .htpasswd file to achiveve this. It could be achieved with some PHP but not that simple.

Thanks

Any more offers of a simple solution???

Well, I read the little debate you referenced but it didn't make clear if this sets out to simply password-protect the 'sign' page - does it? or is it just a fix against robots accessing the gbook?

that bit of code means you have to sign in to any page that contains that bit of code.
