this here does not help from making the table bigger when the poll is in a page

.noformpad { padding-top:0px; padding-bottom:0px; }

any suggestions?

Have you set the table' class to noformpad?
Try applying it to a particular cell if needs be.

Try just padding: 0; and possibly margin:0;. And as Auron said did you actually add the class attribute to the table tag?
