You put the code wherever you want the date to appear on the page.

I put the Java Script Code in the Dreamweaver code area and the script icon appears on the page, but after publishing the page the Date is not visible. Is there something that I need to do in order for the date to be visible?

You also need to put the rest of the javascript in the head section of the page.
