Installing Advanced Poll - textfile version

Seems like a lot of people have a lot of problems installing and logging on. Includes me too. I copied all the files into \poll from the textfiles directory structure. I logged into the admin account, but no icons displayed. I then entered \poll for url path and \poll\image for the icons. Whatever I enter into any of the fields I get "invalid value" error message when I submit. Any help greatly appreciated.

Using Apache 1.3 on Windows and PHP 4.1

The logging on problems are possibly caused by notepad and probably only affects Windows users. Open the relevant file that is used to log in (sorry don't know which it is) in a DOS editor (open DOS and type edit 'filename.php'. At the very start of the file before the code starts <php> there's some rubbish - delete it and save the file and try logging on again.

I installed it OK using the db version on my pc. How do I switch to a text file version ? My ISP charges for MySQL.
