Guestbook has stopped

Hi all !
I'm new to this forum and maybe this question is a bit stupid

I've had Guestbook 2.4.2 installed for a month or so but suddenly it seems no-one is able to add an entry in the guestbook.
I can't say I've done anything to the scripts and there is no error message from either the PHP scripts or SQL.
Any idea what might be the problem?

I can edit any entry in the guestbook so it seems the database is there.

I think it may be to do with your usign HTML entities in the buttons names such as

Lägg till

If you have the correct charset for your language you do not need to use html entities.

I'll change that and have another go with it....

So that did the trick but why?
I changed the swedish PHP script since it didn't write out the national characters correctly.
Now tjat I've removed all my changes it works but still the national characters are showing up as "strange" characters.

What can I do to correct this?

Everything looks fine here. There were strange characters earlier which is indicative of a wrong charset but they are gone now.
