Hi
I have forgotten my password for Admin on Advanced Guestbook 2.4.3
How do I get it back again or reset for a new one?
Thanks for your assistance in advance.

there is a file in the misc folder for reseting the admin details. Just visit it in your web browser.

Hi thanks for the advice, only trouble is I dont undertand where I should be looking for the file.
Would you be able to give a little more direction or should I just delete the Guestbook and start again?
Many thanks in advance for your assistance.

I don't have the gb files here but if you visit something like www.yoursite,com/guestbookphp/misc/resetpassword.php you will be able to reset the password. resetpassword.php is not the files name so you need to log in to either FTP or file manager to get the correct file name.

All the required information can be found in the config.inc.php file which is in the admin folder of your guestbook. Again this can only be viewed by downloading it to your computer or file manager.

Open notepad or wordpad and just drag the file on to it.

I have the same issue. Found the config.inc.php file and it has a line near the top ... with user name and password e.g.,
$GB_DB["user"] = "c141hea_agbook1";
$GB_DB["pass"] = "xxxxxxx";
(I have changed the value of the "pass" setting for display here, but the one listed in the file bears no resemblance to what I have been using in the past.
I don't if this is encrypted or someone hacked it somehow...I've tried editing the file and uploading it...to no avail. I checked the actual database for my user ID via browsing my 'auth' table...what's in there is encrypted into something I can't make any sense of at all.
The 'forgot_pass.php script discussed earlier in this thread doesn't seem to work for me either... Don't know where to proceed from here as I can't
do any admin work on the guestbook. I'm running version 2.4.2
Any ideas how to reset this so I can get to my admin functions will be greatly appreciated.

No the password in the config.inc.php file is your DATABASE password and not the password for the guestbook. it is the database information from the config.inc.php file that you need to make the forgot_pass.php file work.
