ok thanks my server is mozilla 4.0 - does php and my sql need to be uploaded onto this??? or do i keep it on my hard drive - sorry bit confused.

sorry i'm a bit of a novice with these things, will a php guestbook such as 2.31 run on any server with a cgi-bin?

i'm trying to put a guestbook on my site, it seems that most people on here use the 2.31 version. I'm wondering what i need with regards to php to host the guestbook on my site??? Also is a php driven guestbook easier to maintain than a perl one, as i had big problems with the 1.5 perl version.

i'm new to the board and was wondering if i could get some help. I'm not interested in upgrading to the 2.31 guestbook as i have little knowledge of php. I'm currently struggling with the bits of script that have to be altered in the guestbook.pl file. My site is mainly designed in flash and the shell i upload to is generally windows based. I'm just stuck really on what to enter into the guestbook.pl file and if having a flash based site will affect the guestbook, i'm generally getting page not found errors and also one that looks like the guestbook and states that a general error has occured in the guest_id file. any help appreciated. as it's driving me
