The old, basic guestbook - not the advanced one.

It wasn't the server - they didnt do any maintenance - and none of my other files (there are many) were affected in any way - I actually went through and checked every one to see if any other damage had occurred.

Only the guestbook.html file, and I think also the page_id.txt file that keeps track of the # of the entries.
My guestbook.html file suddenly was wiped to 0K.

There is no possible explanation I can think of (I am the only administrator, and it's a solid password; the server had no problems) besides that it was hacked.

Is this possible? Could a hacker wipe the file to 0? If so, is there something I can do to prevent this ever happening again? We lost every one of our guestbook entries.

Thank you.
Yes, 1.5 guest book. Exactly.
I've finally managed to install Guest Book, and it's working perfectly.

Except I made some dummy entries to test it out, and now I'd like to delete them.

I click on administration. It asks for password. I enter it. It takes me to the Admin page. And then I have to enter:

Selected page, Action, Entry ID, Password

On this page I am not seeing any of the guestbook entries - not sure if this is normal.

Let's say I want to delete entry #1, I tried entering:

guestbook.html, delete, 1, mypassword

then i click submit, but nothing happens (when i go to the guestbook, entry #1 is still there.)

So, what ACTIONS can I use in Administration? How can I view guestbook? How can I edit or delete certain entries?

THANK YOU!
