After installing poll, everything is working. But the images in the admin section are not showing. The poll is installed at http://poll.ache.nl but the script thinks the images are in http://www.image.nl

Just copy the new files to your server. Do NOT copy config.inc.php

It doesn't matter much where you put the files. You need to put the full path to them there from the root of the server.
