what i mean is i tried to use:
SELECT `id`
FROM `book_data`
WHERE 1
ORDER BY `id` DESC LIMIT 1

but my problem is i have deleted a few entrys from my guestbook and my id should be 4 but it reads 17?????

how do i change the autoincroment bit: where it says the next one is 18?
