Hi,
I once made a downloadable and printable copy of: How to: Install Advanced Guestbook and How to: General Settings-Explained.
I hope this makes it a little easier:
Tutorial
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Version history:
1.0 initial release of the how-to
1.1 Added General Settings-Explained
1.2 Changed the way you start.
1.3 Added the Chmod setting
1.4 Added a session test script

I need the guide to correctly configuring MySQL, PHP4, IIS5 to work with the Advanced Guestbook.
I've installed IIS5, MySQL and PHP4 on my computer locally. I need to know where to put the guestbook files and exactly how to set everything up.
I appreciate your help.
Sincerely,
Loren

You can the guestbook manual from here...
<<< http://www.geocities.com/nathalonia/gbpoll >>>
It's by Jam'n so it's probably the same one mentioned above.
Good luck.
PS Auron - the link in your sig goes to a 404 error.

www.starelement.com works for me.
And yes both the guestbook tutorials are made by me
If it's correct they should be the same.
Yep they are both version 1.4 and that's the latest version.

out on my server.

Ok I would like to update my GB 2.2 to GB 2.3.1 Can I do this without messing up all my style and template changes that I have made. Just to let you know my GB came with my server package so It was an auto install type deal.

Yes you can update, but you may well mess up your styles and templates. Best thing is to back up your template files, and in fact most of the files. Especially back up session.class.php for comparison.
A good program to compare what has been changed between the versions is WinMerge. It will show you side by side what has changed and let you copy your mods easily to the new files.
With an upgrade there will be issues with the 'auth' table. There are .sql listings on the forum the reset this table to the format necessary for 2.3.1. In particular the last_visit field in the 'auth' table must be lower-case and its data type set to int(11) instead of timestamp.
On my book I use a textured background and it was necessary to remodify header.php in the templates section once I got admin working to re-insert the background property to the body tag.
Hope that helps.
