Hi

I am in New Zealand and was hoping to use your guest book on my personal web site. http://www.knowler.co.nz

I have most of it going but am unsure what to put in for the base directory in the /cgi-bin/guestbook.pl

I thought it might of been the PATH_TRANSLATED D:\rachel_knowler\cgi-bin\guestbook.pl

But it still dosent work when I click on SIGN BOOK

I see on the net a few people have had a problem with this but after two nights of trying things I cant get it. Please can you help me?

You can go here to see the guest book on my site http://www.knowler.co.nz/addentry.html

Thanks you very much for the code and your help.

Kind Regards

Steve

Use http://www.knowler.co.nz/ for the base directory.

You are using the cgi version, while most of us are using the php version.

Your guestbook does not appear to be in a separate directory.

I attempted to sign your book and received the following error message:

Cannot open ID file guest_id.txt

While I have not used the cgi version, it sounds like permissions need to be changed so this file can be written to.

You need to read the instructions (maybe a readme file) and find out if you should change the permissions on this and any other files to 777.

it cannot create the file as you would have to set the root of your site to 777 and this is a bit of a security risk. You are always best of putting the guestbook in it's own directory.
