I am new to web sites. Finaly I have managed to design my own website using frontpage. Huh, what an effort !!!!!!! Web can be cruel !!!!!!

I am having trouble with installing a good guest book. After plenty of trial and error I decied to download ADVANCED GUESTBOOK 2.3.1 from this site.

I could not find the readme text in the download. So looked at someone's site using this guestbook. Figured it that I need to upload all the files I downloaded in to my "public htm" folder.

So I uploaded them into my 'public htm'. Now its there. But I am not able to access it.

When I try this address -

http://www.kentheteaman.com/Advanced%20guestbook%202.3.1/

I get this following errer message

Warning: mysql_connect(): Unknown MySQL Server Host 'dominNET.net' (1) in /home/kenthete/public_html/Advanced guestbook 2.3.1/lib/mysql.class.php on line 30

I tried to change the details of "localhost", "user" , "password" and "database" names in the CONNECT.PHP file using notepad.

But still the same problem.

I WOULD APPRECIATE IF SOMEONE CAN HELP ME. I AM FED UP AT THIS STAGE.

THANKS A LOT IN ADVANCE.

regards,
ken.

Does the top part of your config php file look anything like this? And did you set up a database?

$GB_DB["dbName"] = "database name here";
$GB_DB["host"] = "localhost";
$GB_DB["user"] = "user here";
$GB_DB["pass"] = "password here";

And he did.

Carbonize is just wonderful. I do not know what he did, but the page appeared magicaly on my website !!!

Carbonize has contributed so much in this forum(more than 700 posts), all of them for helping some hapless fellows like me on the cyberspace.

I think he should be commended and applauded for his work.

Regards,
ken.
