Hello all,

Carbonize was kind enough to answer several questions I had in another thread > http://proxy2.de/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4182.

I had a couple more questions I added to that thread that went unanswered. So I am just copying and pasting here to try for an answer:
I have run into another problem.

When I insert an image into my guestbook post and try to preview it, I get this error message: Quote:
Warning: copy(/home/usatro2/public_html/guestbook/tmp/img-1107116473.gif): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/usatro2/public_html/guestbook/lib/add.class.php on line

The first time I got this error, I backed out of the preview screen, re-entered the image file path (it was blank after returning) and submitted and the post was fine.

I tried a second time and when I previewed, I got a similar error message (different file name), but then I submitted from the preview screen and got an errror screen that redirected back to the guestbook and the post was there, but the image wasn't (no even a missing image graphic).

Here is a link to the error screen link > screenshot..

Any ideas?

Thanks again!

<edit later>PS. Is there a way to increase the size of the email the guest is sent. It appears to be limited to about 144 characters.</edit later>

Any info would be appreciated.

I also have another situation with the guest email be rejected by certain mail servers that utilize cPanel due to "Malformed email headers" in the guestbook script origniated emails (to the guest, not the guestbook owner). I am currently working on this with tech support at my hosting company and they are escalating it to cPanel tech suport. Does anyone else have any experience with this type problem

Thanks in advance for any help!!

Not sure about the image problem. What OS is your host running? Windows or Linux?

As to the mail headers they shouldn't be malformed unless there is a problem with your hosts sendmail.

As to the email message it is limited in MySQL to 150 characters but you can go into phpMyAdmin via the cPanel and then goto book_config and alter notify_mes to change it's size from 150. You can also enter your new mssage whilst in there although I cannot see why you need more than 150 characters.

Thanks for your prompt reply Carbonize!

My host is running Linux with Apache. The image problem only happens when you post via "Preview". Did you see the error message screen shot?

In regards to the email header problem, apparently it is a problem with more than just my one host. I tried it with a different provider that also uses cPanel and it has the same problem.

As for the reason for a larger guest email, this guestbook is for a non-profit organization and they want to thank the person and add a plug for donations.

Thanks for the editing tips!

Now that is something I can understand. I placed a huge plug on my sites most popular page hinting that people actually click the adverts at the side to support the site.

I have never used a host with Cpanel although I think my hosts are going to move me to a nwe server soon. If this is a common problem then I'd say the problem really lies in Cpanel. If you have an example of the mangled headers I'd love to see them. The image problem has lost me. I used to be on a host running Linux and now I am on BSD. Both used Apache and I never had any image problems. I'm wondering if the problem lies in the speed of the server. I'll tinker around to see if I cannot emulate it on my home server.

Thanks again, Carbonize!

I sent you the "malformed header" information to your Hotmail address. I wanted to keep some identity info private. As I said in my email, feel free to post to the board any relevant info (without identity info) that would be useful to others.

As I said in my previous post, this problem has been escalated to cPanel tech support. I have confirmed the problem with two different hosting companies, both using cPanel.

If you can figure anything out on the images, I would really appreciate it. You can probably guess the url of the guestbook (from the email address or let me know and I will send it to you) if you want to see the error in action. Just remember to preview the image insertion and then post from there.

Thanks again for all your help!!!

Any email sent to my hotmail will get rejected as it is set to address book only. I only have the hotmail address for MSN messenger although I should of jst created a passport for my real email address. Send the information to webmaster@carbonize.co.uk if you please.

There was another person recently that had a similar problem in the Preview function with Photos not displaying - only it was with the upload and preview - Don't remember if the issue was resolved but you might search out that thread....

Thanks, ET! I searched earlier and the only post I found was: http://proxy2.de/forum/viewtopic.php?t=236&highlight=preview+image+error, but that is a different error. Do you know of any other posts?

martin - http://proxy2.de/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4093 was discussed this past week.... The error was only showing up when a person previewed the image before submitting....

Thanks, ET! That sounds like the same problem. I posted the associated error messages (one pasted and one screenshot linked) in my first post. Maybe when Carbonize reviews this he can figure it out. Any one else with ideas, please let me know.

I'm thinking it is a relative path problem somewhere in the script that only impacts some guestbook set-ups but not all.

As an aside and other comment to this topic - the one thing I have discovered (using AG2.2 - not sure about the upgraded 2.3.1 version) is the following problem:

When some people are trying to pull in images using the will cause an error message that invalid code has been used (I think it is message 10 in the English Lang file.)
But if the visitor uses a shorter url the image will show up just fine.... It seems to have an impact in how many "/s" get used in the url....

Just an observation that I have in regards to images and the guestbook....

In regards to the mangled headers problem could you please email me the add.class.php file from your guestbooks lib folder. I want to see if they mangled it in the code. If not then it's getting mangled on route.
