I have just gotten this working today. Now I have a stupid test post and I can't delete it. How do I delete it? I've tried to do it via the Administration page, but that doesn't seem to work.... maybe I'm not comletely done setting it up?? I can't find a list of commands for the Admin page either. Can anyone help?

My only other question is, is it possible to turn off the display of IP addresses on the guestbook, but keep them in a log somewhere for Admin access?

Thanks!

There is no delete link in the admin section? Amber is the guestbook 1.5 expert as I've never used it.

Well, there is not delete link, but a text box labled action. It accepts the word delete in lower case letters only, but it does not delete the post. I am typing the id# in the id box just by itself. Not sure if there is anything special with the numbernig system, but post #1 I just type as 1.

I can be patient and await anyone elses response. Thanks for your reply!

Froom what I can make out in the code (damn I hate perl) yu are supposed to just put delete. I would install i tto test but it's a pain and I don't like scripts in my cgi bin. Is there a particular reason you chose the flat file guestbook over a database version ?

Not really, just simplicity and I am runnig it on a very small hard drive. I'm just running this stuf for the learning experience mostly. I do like to make it useful in some way, but mostly I like to set things up, make them work so I can learn something along the way.

What is meant by "running" it on a very small hard drive? Is it a server with Perl and a cgi-bin?

Yes, it is a server with a cgi-bin and perl and everything else is running great. The guestbook works, I just can't delete. I said a small hard drive because I think it's only like 4 gigs. all it does is serve the web, not too much content. There is less than a gig left on the partition so I am trying to keep as bare bone as I can. I don't even know if it would make much of a difference to run the 2.5 version or whatever else is out. I just started with this one and wont move on until I can get it to delete

Thanks for your reply.

Well I am running Apache, PHP and MySQL on a 128MB USB Stick. The guestbooks database takes a couple of megs at most.

Very nice. I am still learning all of this. I have not figured out how to get the delete to work, but I did edit the html and delete my test post. Everything looks good now. I should be aquiring a newer PC this week and I will start tranferring things over to that one. Not sure the hard drive space, but should be more than 4 gigs..... I'm hoping for 40.
