Error 1406

Hello,

I installed Advanced Guest Book. All seems fine, but I get an error after adding an entry. I got:

1406 Data too long for column 'browser' at row 1

I filled in every field, pressed Submit and got this error.

What is wrong?

The browsers useragent field was only given 100 characters and unfortunately some (Internet Explorer) now uses more.

Is there a way to resolve this? If so, what can I do?

Sorry to dig this thread up but I am getting the same problem.

I have been using the advanced guestbook for years with no problems. I have just moved it to a new hosting server and I am now getting this error 1406 issue.

I have tried reinstalling the latest version, but it made no difference.

Do you have phpMyAdmin (usually in cPanel) and if so do you know how to use it?

I do have phpmyadmin. If used it a couple of times before to reset the admin password.

Any help would be appreciated.

Once in phpMyAdmin find the book_data table. Change the browser field so that it is 200 instead of the 100 it currently is.

I too getting same error 1406 but for Advanced Poll v 2.09. pls refer attachment for both the errors.

It happens when I input the text in hindi (Indian language) font.

If I enter hindi text in question field and submit, I get this error :- Error Number: 1406 Data too long for column 'question' at row 1

& When I enter hindi text in option field and submit, I get this error :- Error Number: 1406 Data too long for column 'option_text' at row 1

pls guide.
