how to put a banner above the page? complete amateur here  XML

Hi,
I somewohw managed to install a guestbook to my site however I do not know how to change the theme, actually i only want to include a banner of my site above the page where it writes guestbook, i tried but I couldnt. How do i do that? BTW I have no clue sbout PHP scripts.
I'd be so glad if you could help me. Thanks!

You don't need php, HTML is enough. Go to admin [A] and try to play with footer.php template (pure HTML)

Actually it would go in header.php after the <body ...> tag. You could use the templates section of admin but I personally recommend downloading the file by FTP and editing it on your computer.
