I just installed the current 2.4.1 version of the guestbook in a test environement at my new hoster, but image verification is not properly working (there).
about 75% of the created images have errors, when viewing the (firefox : view image) i get
The image “...” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.
this does not happen with every image, but most.
any ideas ?
the testboard is located at
http://marc.web237.webgo24-server11.de/msgb
there's also phpinfo at
http://marc.web237.webgo24-server11.de/phpinfo.php
i'm not familiar with what libs are exactly required for the gusetbook, but gd is installed (i can see no gd2 though).
is that a problem of the php installation at the hoster ?
any help appreciated, thanks
guido

just wanted to say that everything works fine with the lazarus version of the guestbook.
as this seems to be more promising (esp. bec. ofenhanced spam blocking) to me this issue is closed ...

Looks like your guestbook is using the bitmap version of captcha as opposed to the normal version and possibly there is a bug in the bitmap generation. I don't see why it's using the bitmap version though as you have GD installed.
Basically the CAPTCHA checks to see if you have GD installed and the imagettftext function exists. As we know you have GD installed I can only assume that the imagettftext function is not working. Hmm php.net says that imagettftext requires both the GD library and the FreeType library.

thanks for the reply, Carbonize.
whatever causes this problem - i will use your lazarus version not only because that does not produce the error but also as it seems to protect better against spam (and has some other features i missed like email notification and image verification for comments)
thanks !

That and the fact the AG captcha is simple and I believe it has been compromised already.
