I get this error

Cannot open ID file links_id.txt in /home/username/public_html/links for writing!

anyone knows why it can't open links_id.txt ??? please help

You have to check the settings in links.pl
I think the error is in this line:

# base directory to all link files without trailing "/"
$base_dir = "/???";
