advanced guestbook mysql connection error

I keep getting the following connection error. I've created all the tables and inserted the values, but cannot run admin.php or any of the php files.

Here's the error:

Warning: MySQL Connection Failed: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (111) in /www/hosts/com/m/markshost/docs/guestbook/lib/mysql.class.php on line 30

Any help would really be appreciated..

Fixed the earlier problem (the 'host' was not correct -- my virtual host needs to be pointed to a specific server).

Anyway, one step closer.. but the next problem is that index.php won't run:

Am I supposed to be editing anything other than config.inc.php ?? All I changed in config.inc.php was the first four entries (dbName, host, user, and pass).

I get the same error when I try to use "Easy Admin", or "Private Messages" from admin.php. Also, none of my settings get saved except for my username and password from the admin utility.

The addentry.php sort of works (it parses fine but I can't actually add messages, as it says "too short or too long" no matter what I enter..probably because none of my settings get saved in the admin util).

Anyway.. please help! This is an amazing guestbook and I've spent all night trying to get it working.

Mmmm, I'm getting the same error running the guestbook as a module on phpNuke 7.3 using the right blocks visible. If not visible everything seems to work fine. No problems logging in as administrator.

No solution so far.

sadiki as Mark has aalready said the problem is you have the server name wrong. CHeck you haven't spelt it wrong or if you need to specify the exact server location.

This is one you will have to speak to your hosts about as it's not a problem with the script.
