Admin page does not show up in Advanced Poll

Advanced Poll - So, I tried uploading(ftp) everything and created database and could not put username and password in to finish process. I removed everything. I then used softaculous where the script was available in Cpanel and self installs. When I try to get to admin page it comes up blank. I can get to the polls but no admin page. Hi,
I'm using Advanced Poll to allow my book club members to select books. I am having trouble finding answers to these questions:

1. can I include a hyperlink (of the book title to an amazon page, for example) so that when the answers (my book titles) are displayed, users can click on the link to see what Amazon has to say about the book?
2. can I make different answers appear in different colors (I want the title of fictional books to appear in red, non-fiction to appear in blue) - I'm guessing this can somehow be done in the editor for each answer, but I'm still new (somewhat to the HTML) thing...
3. When I select inline results (or even the popup option), the results and their percentages show up in a really light color and I cannot figure out where in the custom setup I can control those colors...driving me nuts as they are almost impossible to read...

I've been trying to fix missing icons (broke image symbol) in Advanced Guestbook, and ran into another problem in doing so. I am not really code literate, but try to fix things nonetheless. Advanced Poll Next Poll Button?

I've created custom pages for each poll I currently have. I have performed a search and cannot find this question anywhere, my apologies if I've missed it. I am fairly new to advanced polls so thanks for your patience. How would one go about including a next button in the poll results page footer that would simply take them to the next poll I designate from a list if that makes sense?

I am moving my guestbook to a new domain because i will be moving hosters shortly and wanted to make sure the guestbook remained live while i moved hosters.

I am using the latest version of Advanced poll successfully.

One problem, when a user clicks 'Results' they go back to the top of the page - losing sight of the poll if it is down the page further.

Is there a way to encode a target - for example into the Results template so the user goes back to the same place on the page as the poll ?

I have been trying without joy to achieve this and would be grateful for any help.

Advance Poll - Broken support in PHP 5.4

Hi All, I upgraded my PHP installation from PHP 5.2 to 5.4 version and my Advance Poll stopped working. I googled around for the possible causes and found that the register_globals has been dropped in PHP 5.4.
As a possible, quick fix, i changed and added the below lines to my include/config.inc.php file for advance poll -

I got my domain hacked, but managed to upload backup of Advanced Poll. Now the problem is that AP doesnt seem to find any polls. The actual poll screen shows up but when i try to vote or wiev the result AP says "Poll ID does not exist." Also i cannot sign in to my admin account. Any help please... :)

I've made a flip guestbook using the Mgraph software. Unfortunately, I'm a Senior Citizen without a lot of tech knowledge - although I DID create my own web-site! :-)

I have the Guestbook made, changed the graphics, etc. to suit me, but, unfortunately it doesn't totally work. Just - almost!

I'm wondering if there isn't some kind soul who I could pay to fix the bugs in it? I suspect that some bright young guy could fix it in a few minutes.

AdvancePoll - I can not get poll(s) to display !

I'm new to AdvancePoll and i just can't get any poll to display.

I've created a number of polls, I've selected one, clicked on "HELP" and copied the pre-HTML code to the very top of a blank html page and then placed the remaining code inside the BODY tags of the blank html page.

I've then saved the page as polls.htm, uploaded it to my site and gone to view it and all I see is a blank page with

at the top left !!!

I have struggled to get AP 3.0 working but I have succeeded despite myself. Very little help as far as documentation and even the forum responses are sometimes vague.

Here is what I need. I need to have the submitted comments show up along with the results. I get the results just fine. After looking through the forum it has been suggested to use Demo 2. I am OK with that but I am new to using PHP and script language. If I use Demo 2 where do I put the code? Do I use the entire code? The code is broken out into sections. Path - Poll - Poll comments

I have experimented but can't get the page that contains my Polls to display the comments. Can someone that understands AP 3.0 tell me what needs to be added and where?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

By the way I did install AP 3.0 and get polls customized and created with the help from this forum's suggestions. It's just that it is like putting together a puzzle for us new folks new to PHP.

Some time last year I moved my business website and its guestbook to a different server. Today is the first time since then that I have tried to log in to the Administration Panel of the guestbook. It will not accept my username and password, says it's Invalid. Shoot. :shock:

I saw in an older thread here that "There should be a password reset script in the misc folder called forget_pass.php" however I do not have such a folder in my version (I am on 1.10.2).

Can you please tell me how to reset the Administration password and username so i can log in?

I found the problem.

If the option is not selected, then press the button (Vote)

Result :
The system saves the option_id == 0.
the system will not have to vote again ("You have already voted!").

How to check if option (option_id) not selected. ?

Not compatible with Php 5.3 through Softaculous

I would love to use this script, but in the process of installing it through my cpanel and Softaculous, I am getting an error that Advanced Guestbook is not compatible with php 5.3.
I have talked to my host and softaculous and they said that it appears the publisher has not yet addressed this compatibility issue.

Can you tell me when you think this script will be compatible through Softaculous? I LOVE this guestbook!

Some visitors cannot post

(This same question was posted in another thread, but there was no solution posted).

I've had 3 people contact me to say they cannot post in the guestbook, while others have had no problem. They all 3 got an error message that says one of the open fields does not seem to be valid. There may be others that tried but haven't contacted us about the issue.

Adding anchor point in Advanced Poll on submit vote?

Hi there,

I have a quick question. How I do create a working anchor point with a submitted vote.
So if someone submits there vote, the screen will go back to the poll section on the page (instead of scrolling down).

I added the code below, above the poll section:

[code][/code]

And I added:

[code]#backtopoll[/code]

to:

[code]$pollvars[result_text][/code]

Which results in:

[code]$pollvars[result_text][/code]

But that didn't work. As soon as I click on submit vote, my vote is cast and I find myself back at the top of the website again. :(

What am I doing wrong here?

Advanced Poll 3.0?

Where can I find Advanced Poll 3.0? I saw on SimpleScripts.com they list AP 3.0 and would like to install the newest version.

Note: I tried installing version 2.0.9, uploaded all files in the right spot, edited the config file with the db name, etc

But after installation I went to login in with my username and password it wouldn't accept my credentials. I guess it would refresh the page or something with the username/passwords reset (blank) or it would say the stuff is incorrect. Can't remember which one.

Daily Counter and php 5.3

Have been using your counter for years on many different websites. Just moved them to a new server and apparently mysql.class.php is not compatible with 5.3.

I see you have it your Daily Counter working on your site. Are you using text files or do you have a fix for mysql.class.php.

The total visitors seems to work fine, but daily ....
It logs each visitor as "1" in the database and is not adding them
and then fails to return a value for $visits['visits_today']

I have searched forum for topics on captcha and cannot find one that shows me how to enable it or turn it on. I do have a password enabled in order to post comments but the spammers get right by it. EU Cookie Law - How do I make Advance Poll compliant?

Hello Forum,

The EU Cookie law comes into full effect next month affecting all EU websites that use cookies.
I'm no programming expert and I'm not sure how to make the poll on my site compliant with the law.

From what I understand, any site that uses cookies for any purpose other than ESSENTIAL operation of the site (so not analytics or page preferences for example) must provide an overt opt-out section on the pages. The visitor must be able to opt-out before ANY cookies are set.

Does Advanced Poll use non-essential cookies?
It may also be necessary to list the cookies used and what they are used for.

Any help would be appreciated.

problem of path for vote and results buttons

Hello,

First, i have a general question : does the system prevents re-votes both by IP-locking and cookie, or only by IP-locking ?

Then i have a strange issue : the paths of vote and results buttons are wrong in my embedded polls, but they are right in the demo page ! :cry:

http://munci.org/sondages/poll/demo_1.php : paths are OK

http://munci.org/spip.php?page=sommaire3 : paths are wrong !
However, the code is correct (well, i presume) :

How can i correct this issue please ?

Hi! I've installed advanced poll and it works fine. Now, I have a set of 10 questions that I need to ask to some visitors for a list of persons; I mean I have a list of e.g. 10 persons, and someone wants to vote for person X. He clicks on person X's name and he can vote for those 10 questions and the results are added to the database. This thing can be done for any person from that list. Do you have any idea of how to do that? :-? Each person has the results by their own and can be seen after the vote for each question.

I installed Advanced Poll 3.0 and would like to set it up to allow the same user to make multiple votes. The reason, is to use it as a feedback service for students so they can rate and comment on lessons. This information will then be made public to future students.

At the moment, the same user can only vote once, but is able to make multiple comments.

I used the code from Demo 2, I think.

But i need to customize it to vote for more than one choice in order to classifiy all the choices given to the poll.
