I know that the charset UFT-8 plays a role here. Only where can I find the right place to change that? (The text content of the entry is correct, the umlauts are displayed correctly). It's just the subject.

ich habe das Advanced Guestbook 2.4.4 produktiv unter PHP 5.3 betrieben. Nach einem Update meiner Entwicklungsumgebung auf PHP 5.6 bekomme ich aber Warnungen (Liste unten). Die könnte ich zwar unterdrücken, aber lieber wäre mir, die Ursachen zu beseitigen. Leicht zu ersetzen sind sicher die Funktionen mit regulären Ausdrücken. Aber nicht so einfach ist eventuell die Migration von mySql auf mySqli.

Gibt es Pläne für eine neue Version oder zumindest einen Patch.

I have a "little" problem, if someone writes a story in my Guestbook and someone wants to comment on that, lets say three days later, the date and time of that comment is the same as those of the story.
I have been looking how to solve it , but I can't find the solution.
In com.php there is the $DATE and in Body.php is $TPL[GB_TIME],

When I click on the thumbnail image, there is a bigger image showing up, when I click than on the "expand image" button ( right top), the image is much to big and will have scrollbars at the right side and the bottom.
Where can I change that size so the image will fit the screen, or leave that "expand button" away?

I am new on this forum, I live in Holland and I am playing with the Guestbook for a few weeks now.
So far all goes fine and I made some modifications so the Guestbook fits perfect in our website.
The last few days I have been trying to place 3 buttons on the form.php, the Bold button, the Italic and the underline button , the same as on this form.
The buttons are on the form.php now, but I cant get them working, can somebody help me please.
I have AGcode and HTML activated in General settings.

Have noticed a few entries without an email address.

Leaving the email fiend blank will result in an error. But found that a single spacebar will allow the entry to go thru.

I´ve made a lot of Custumization to my Guestbook.
Most of them by "Try and Error" - at last with no Errors :-)

Now i have a Problem:
When Smilies are enabled there is an String like in my SourceCode.
(Also i.E. for the post.gif and so on)

I´ve found the Strings for ...post.gif and the ...edit.gif in the entry.php

But where can i find the Class for the Smiliesstring? Ive searched all classes through but cant find it.

Can you help me?

recently i tranfered my domain and Guestbook to another website hoster, just copied all files, but didn't copied the MySQL database xxx.sql, and it worked with all old guestbook entries! And i didn't even create a new MySQL database at the new hoster, it seemed me very strange, i wonder if it works without MySQL database?

Could someone explain me the reason? thanks a lot!

The book_auth table is empty, therefore I cannot login to Admin. The tables in it are there like ID, username, password etc, but they are empty. My knowledge of SQL is not good enough to re-enter the information required. Though I can access it via phpadmin.

I tried using reset.php and it reported it had done the job, but unfortunately it hadn't because the tables were still empty. I then used the forget_pass.php script with the same result. I have no idea what to do next. Can anyone help please and try to keep it simple?

I don't want to lose the comments I have going back years by reinstalling if it can be avoided.

I did even more looking into it, and found that the keywords/search strings being used is simply:
"guestbook/addentry.php".

So they search for that and it brings up a CRAP LOAD of guestbooks, and they simply just go down the list of search results spamming guestbook after guestbook.

So i was wondering how complicated it would be to change the addentry.php to something else, and randomly change it often to stop the spammers?

I don't care about the SEO of the add entry page, since that page isn't really needed to be indexed by any search engine.

The GB is being used on a Vietnam Veterans unit site and I have a hack that is a drop down box so visitors pick their unit (13 different units) which is actually the location field.

The hack is on the main page and allows visitors to use the same type of drop down menu for the units (location) and display only that units messages. This is very similar to the page jump menu already existing.

I've gone back over the notes and the files from ver 2.2 and can get the drop down menu on the main page but when you do a search for the units it does nothing.

I'm willing to make payment/donation for assistance here as I've been trying to get it working but my PHP knowledge is shaky. I downloaded your script to upgrade to 2.3. Everything in the script worked with the exception of adding the pics table which I manually did. Guestbook worked fine at that point.

Because I need to do a bunch of mods, I downloaded 2.4.4 to a new directory and pointed config.php to the original database. The guestbook came up as 2.4.4 and I logged in as the admin and snooped around a bit. Saw a bit about having to set the capatcha up farther down in the config.php file so I did that.

I looked thru all the files in 2.4.4 and did not find an upgrade file but only found /misc/convert_tables_to_utf8.php which I ran and was successful.

If I attempt to to sign the guestbook I get a SQL error Error Number: 1146 Table 'ov1_agbook1.book_captcha' doesn't exist

Somewhere I missed a step between 2.2 and 2.4.4 which would have added the additional table(s). I've been up and down the forum and couldn't find anything (it's probably there and I'm too blind).

Can you help out please??

When I try to sign in guestbook doen't show the captcha code. Then I can't write any comment.
I've tried locally on my pc and it works fine, but on my server doesn't show.
What can be the reason?

At first I couldn't even log back into the GB. I found Carbonize's website and was able to use his password reset (beta ver) successfully but now if I was try do anything as an administrator it returns me back to the log in screen and I get an error in PHP. Again searching Carbonize's site someone had a similar problem, but I never found a fix other than confirm that book_auth the field LAST_VISIT is set to type TIMESTAMP.

The PHP error I am getting is Warning: mktime() expects parameter 2 to be long, string given in /public_html/roster/lib/session.class.php on line 63 - this error appears directly above the administrator login.

The new server has AG 2.4.4 installed.

I have tried to restore backup but it doesn't see it.
My username for old one kjv1611_agbook1.sql
Whereas the new empty one is kjvorguk_agbook1.sql Is that the problem?
I tried using myphpadmin and in the screen it showed I had uploaded the database but the 2 were separate 11 files for new (2.4.4) and 10 files for old 2.3.1
How can I get the new guestbook to show the old database?

I am using Advanced Guestbook 2.3.1. I have not been able to login to Guestbook Admin since my new hosting company transferred my guestbook from my old host.

Today I tried using Carbonize's reset.php (reset_beta) to no avail. This is the error I receive after running "reset.php": "There was a problem changing the username and password. Table 'alumni_agbook1._auth' doesn't exist".

Since the beginning I have a problem that a 's entries (as in foto's) show up as 's (resulting in foto's).
Tried several changes in charset settings (all in UTF-8) and got a lot of support on the coppermine forum, see:

After all the trouble shooting in the last months I am almost sure there is something wrong with my SQL database and the guest book entries are handled wrong because of this.
