Animcounter install issue

If I call the demo.php page - it works just fine. If I try to include the demo.php page it doesn't work. Here's how I'm trying to include it.
Test Page for the Apache Web Server on Red Hat Linux

<?php
include "./counter/acounter.php";
$ani_counter = new acounter();
echo $ani_counter->create_output();
?>
The resulting output in the browser is

create_output(); ?>

And that's it. Like I said if I just point the browser to demo.php it works ok.

Any and all help is apprecitated.
