My webhost crashed an reset my username for cpanel access, unfortunatly now I can't access my guestbook because it has the "old" username. I can get to all the files in the cpanel.I need to know how to change the username, password through the file manager.

Since your web host changed your cpanel password/username this will change your database pw/username. You should be able to go into the folder your guestbook is in on your server( ex. guestbook then go to the admin folder locate the config.inc.php file.) This is where you need to change you database pw/username to the new one. and then save it. You should now be able to access it. I ended up removing old file and installing new book...but I checked your answer and it looked like I could indeed have changed things there.
