I am new to the php mysql thing too. I have posted numerous request for help on various web forums and haven't had a single reply from anyone.

So, I took it upon myself to buy a few books and download premade scripts. The best book I found so far is called, "PHP and MySQL Web Development" written by "Luke Welling and Laura Thomson". It is very detailed and and breaks every piece of information down.

I am still having problems, like where I should place each code. Some of the codes go above your HTML, some go in the body. I understand it until I actually go to do it, then I become confused.

Anyway, all the other books I've purchased on the subject, is pretty lame. Don't waste your money on any of them that claim you can learn it in 24 hours. 24 hours for someone experienced is probably right. 24 hours for someone just learning is nothing more that a sales pitch.

By the way, the book I mentioned above sells for about $50 new. It also says it's the second edition.

Hope that helps.
