need help with deleting/uninstalling advanced poll

I have a problem. I installed the advanced poll. Not knowing exactly what I was doing, I went through the process, putting it in my main folder. then my web address pointed to the demo polls. So, I thought that if i went into my file manager and deleted everything the program installed, it would be back to normal, boy was I wrong. Now, the web address points to the "index directory" of my site and exposes all of my files to the public.

WHAT DID I DO WRONG?

I went into the advanced poll installation and it didn't even say I had it installed, but all the files were there. I have read as much of this forum as I could before writing my own topc. Hopefully i have given enough info. My site just started and I am 110% new to script etc. Please, anyone, help me get me site back up to normal. I have registered users that will NOT be very happy once they notice the "change".

Thank you in advance.
