A guestbook problem

Hello,

I was just wondering how to I get the guestbook added to my layout on the webpage as this page has?

I use Advanced Guestbook 2.2.

The images won't show and the links are wrong the way I've included it now. Which files do I have to edit to make em work as it should?

Thanks for the reply.

Well in the Advanced Guestbook I use, there ain't anything called that. I knew about that before as I asked about an newer release, but in this old release there ain't anything in the config.inc.php file in the admin folder.

I'm a little sceptical to upgrade aswell, as I'm afraid of losing posts. When I installed it through cpanel, so it created the username and password for the database aswell. I have no clue what the database's password is :p

So do you have any suggestions?

This is why I hate it when hosts provide scripts because they always mess with them and leave other people to fix their mistakes. So long as your hosts didn't change the names used for the database tables there should be no problem with upgrading. There must be a config file somewhere in the guestbook as it needs this file to know the name, username and password of your database.

Hadn't noticed that one before.

Here's what I have done in the past with those guestbooks where the site owner has CPanel but doesn't know the password:

Go into CPanel and select MySql Databases.

Create a new database user with a new password.

Grant access to the Guestbook database to the new user.

Go Into PhpMyAdmin and export the Guestbook database to a .sql file so all the entries will be saved in case of any problems. (Be sure to select all the tables and the box that says "file".)

Edit the admin/config.inc.php file to reflect the new database username and user password.

With all the entries saved in an .sql file, you should be able to upgrade without worry.

Yes. You didn't change any info did you? ... Just selected all the tables and checked the file box?

So you should be able to click on "go" near the bottom and it will ask you if you want to save the file. Go ahead and then navigate to the directory you want to save it to on your hard drive. If you really want to be cautious, you can look in the saved file to make sure it has the info.
