I want to write something in the second line, but with some blanks, but after i submit, it will atomatically go to left, no blanks anymore, who knows how to solve it? Furthmore, how can i add something in advanced guestbook , so if i write a message just like when i write in a forum, i can design the letter type, and add img, and url and so on?

Now i am very content with my guestbook, i put it in my website, but just one thing, i can not leave blank in the biegin of next line, or to have menus just like in [i]a forum[/i]([b]for example now[/b]) when i write message , to design the letter type and so on.

Oh you mean the buttons you see on a forums entry box. Yes I have thought about it but I have yet to see a site where anything but the IMG AGcode is used so I didn't bother. Also I have removed the URL AGcode from the guestbook I am working on as I feel it will be abused by spammers. I may rethink the mod but on't hold your breath. As to the second problem I will look into it.

just because i can not leave a blank in the begin of a line, my classmates can not use my guestbook, because it looks not in order, all the words go to left automatically. Who can find a way to let guestbook have this function.

I've read through this thread and I'm confused... Are you trying to get New Line Breaks [code]
[/code] or are you trying to get a series of Non-breaking Spaces[code] [/code] as a type of indentation???

If you are attempting to make a series non-breaking spaces (like an indentation) you could make a 10x10 or 16x16 transparent .gif to use and create a icon like code that pulls it in when used..... Just a thought.

If you are trying to get New Line Breaks, I'm not sure about that - my guestbook does that for me.... So I've never had a need to look into the code for that.

O kI have a fix loosely based on the forum code. open up [b]lib/vars.class.php[/b]. Locate [code]function AGCode($string) {[/code]on a new line just after it put[code]$string=eregi_replace("\\[pre\\]([^\\[]*)\\[/pre\\]","

",$string);[/code]now you can place your text between [pre] and [/pre] and it will come out exactly as you typed it in. Or should, I haven't tested it. You will also need to have AGcode turned on.

Mentally, I envision [pre] and [/pre] causing problems if the person types a really long string of text without using any hard returns (Enters) since that could cause a really wide page unless the parameters of the message's entry box are pre-defined to a fixed width....

Essentially, it sounds like Frankdon is asking that the guestbook be more like a Bulletinboard with WYSIWYG set-up....

Frankdon - I posted an "image" into your guestbook giving the illusion of an indent - you can save the .gif and use the smilie function to call it indent or tab or whatever you want ot call it so that all a person needs to do is click on the word you choose to call it (like the smilies that you have) and it will get inserted as invisible space.

That's the least labor intensive work-around I can think of.... or be patient and wait for Carbonize to find the time for rewriting the script.

I'd say adding my [pre][/pre] mod is the easiest method. It will just act the same as quote and code in this forum.

yeah, i think to put [pre][/pre]is not so clearly for vistors, because they even havn't basis knowledge about code or something like that, something i want is what i type here, is just like it be shown in the guestbook after i submit, i mean with indent. or if i copy something from word , excel, it will be shown here just like what it is in word or excel.

Frankdon - essentially, you have all the working for the script you want - using the emoticons javascript - a little copy&pasting with a little tweeking and you would have it!

the guestbok already has blog/forum type functionality. So long as AGcode is allowed you can use [b]bold[/b], [i]italic[/i] etc. The full list is available by clicking the show legend link below the smileys.

You seem to be in a real hurry to get your guestbook just the way that you want it....

I bet if you were willing to pay someone to tweek the script for you, you could get exactly what you are looking for.
