Polls Hacked?

I have been reading the discussion regarding guestbooks being hacked.

And I think that I may have just had the same thing happen to my polls. On returning to a webpage that has five of my polls, all are gone! On checking out my Poll "control panel" in the software, I find that all of these polls have been set to "Disabled"............... and the polldata files are empty.

I think that (like the guestbook discussion) this is because google had indexed the poll reference in my URL, e.g. http://www.whiteroombridal.com.au/polls.htm?action=results&poll_ident=18 .............. you will see that the poll and it's couterparts are nowhere to be seen.

Any ideas on how this can be prevented?

I am recreating the polls, but don't want to repopulate them if this is likely to happen again within a few days.

Then again, I could be totally on the wrong track with my conclusions above.

That is all
Arma

Sydney, Australia

I've never heard of adv. poll 203 being hacked before.

There was a site that posted some probs with 202 but I think 203 solved them.
Not sure though, let me know if it happens again, in the meantime keep your poll data backedup a bit more regularly just in case.

Polls Hacked?

Hi there,

I have upgraded to v2.03 and (as suggested) I wrote a little backup script which has saved my bacon.

But once again, I've been done.

Essentially, what happens is that the data is removed from the file that contains the question and response numbers (I am using the text file based version).

So the poll ID still exists, but it has no data in it.

I have thoroughly checked the file & folder permissions - and one or two were set incorrectly. So this may explain it.

Anyway, once again just wondering if anyone else has experienced the "Case of the Vanishing Data"?

That is all
Arma
