vote button does nothing in advanced poll 2.04

I did a search and found that a few people have asked this question but was unable to find a solution so....here we go

I am using the db version of advanced poll 2.04

the install went well and the admin panel works.

I am able to create polls in the admin, but when I try to click the link to look at the properties, nothing happens.

When I try to vote, the page simply refreshes itself and the DB values are not updated.

I varified that my settings are correct, the image path and poll path are both the correct values.

when viewing the source in my page, the form for submitting currently has no value in the action property.

I figured I would come back and post how the problem was fixed.

the issue was due to the fact that the scripts do not work with the default configuration of PHP5

in order to make them work you need to edit the php.ini file an set

register_long_arrays = on

hope this helps someone in the future
