I read the FAQ's and almost found my answer

I would like to wipe the data base as I am getting spammed like MAD. From what I understand, access to the database is on the _root level of the server. I can't obviously access this from an FTP client. I logged into my hosting account through Godaddy and have found that I have no databases there set up. So, I got the access to Advanced Guestbook and installation from them, but can't seem to find the database.

Please help, and be kind... I am fairly new to databases and web developement. I am a designer at heart and have experience in graphics... not so much everything else.

Well to wipe the database you would need to use something like phpMyAdmin or I could write you the relevant scripts. The alternative is to install a second guestbook and alter the tables in config.inc.php to use different tables. Just replace all book_ with book2_

Ok, now is where I'll try not to sound to idiotic. I have access to PHPMyAdmin via a school project for a PHP class I'm taking. However, I probably need to install PHPMyAdmin on my own system or webspace? I really need some guidance in putting the pieces together. When reading the FAQ's it almost sounded as though the database was set up via my hosting company (GoDaddy) but my Cpanel shows no databases at all. I am a little lost, and embarrased. Any help is appreciated.

If your host uses cpanel, and most do, then you have phpMyAdmin. You can find it in the MySQL section. It's just a case of dropping the tables and reinstalling them.

Yeah, I go to the MySQL section and it says I have 0 of 10 Databases. The Advanced Guestbook I got was actually installed via a program provided by them, so I'm not sure where this database is. They don't seem to know either... it's a complete and total mystery. *buh*

But I do understand the part about dropping the tables, and that did help, if I can now find where this lost database is, I'll be set.

See what it says in the config.inc.php file as this should give you a clue as to where the database is.
