Does anybody knows how can I show only the newest poll without showing expired polls...so only show newest non-expired one ?

my question is quiet different, but I think that if you answer to one, you'll give the answer to the second !

I'm using a list to show active and expired polls (like in demo3). But I want to show a different text (or an icon), if the poll is active or expired. Is it possible, and how-to ?
