It seems that the browser icon displayed in a comment in Advanced Guestbook 2.3.1 (which is working very nicely, thank you, at http://maloneandhutch.com/avg/ ) only shows an icon for Internet Explorer.
A search of the /img directory shows "browser.gif" which is the IE icon. It seems like the purpose of displaying this icon would be to show what browser the commenter is using. If it only shows IE, no matter what, then what's the point? is there some fairly simple modification that will enable display of the shiny red O for Opera, or the fox hugging the world for Firefox?

Nothing simple as it would require the parsing of the user agent to see what browser they were using. You could change the image to a more generic one though.

Thanks Carbonize. That was pretty much what I thought, but I figured I had better check with someone who would actually know the answer.

Hmmmmmmmmm you have given me an idea though. I have a browser detection script thats only about 30 lines or so. I might look into putting it in the guestbook.
