Hi!
I've tried everything! My TMP folder is set to 777, and my PHP 4 has GD enabled. I still get an image issue for verification - no character image shown for verification!
Please have a look at :
http://www.messaeducationcentre.org/guestbook.html
and if anyone can help I'd be really grateful - the spam issues are getting to me!
Thanks!

Hi!
I'ts tricky for me to update to 2.4.2 generically as I've inserted quite a few code snippets to deal with tracking etc in many files! What are the files I actually need to update to get me to 2.4.2 - that would be very helpful!
CAPTCHA is on right now so it should show you the problem!
Thanks for your rapid response!

The problem appear to be that your wonderful host is seeing the .php extension and slapping some ad code onto the end of the file

Hi Carbonize
I squash this code with a <nocsript> so it shoudn't be a problem. I've noticed that no PNG's appear it the tmp folder at all at any time - shouldn't they? If you just dump the generated url for the png into the browser bar it can't find it and doesn't seem to construct it properly? returns a %.PNG....?
Or is the ad code definitely responsible for breaking this? I doubt it as it appears right at the end of the HTML AFTER all the guestbook stuff has been processed?
Still baffled! if you can tell me wht files I need to update to get to 2.4.2 that would help on another issue too.
Thanks anyway!

The ad code is responsible. No image file is created as the image is made and then sent straight to the web browser. I think I have come across this before with other godaddy users. You may need to speak to them about it.

Well, thanks for all your help. I moved the entire site to my local MySQL/PHP server, went through every page to update 2.4.1 to 2.4.2 (had to do it this way as I'd made so many additions etc to your excellent code - it is yours, right?) and the CAPTCHA then worked properly and I got the verification image. Then moved it all back to GoDaddy and, yep, same problem re-appeared, so paid my $3.99/month to get the ad code removed "officially" and hey presto - it all works properly! So I can definitely confirm that sites that add in ad code like this stop the verification image from loading as it should!
Thanks again!

Glad you got it working. Think my signature answers the question about if I write it or not.
Personally I pay about $7 a month for my web hosting.
