I am running version 2.3.3 but needed to upgrade to 2.4.2 because I need security code. I did the follow but I get a Query Error when I click sign guestbook everything else works fine

What I did
I overwrite all of the old files with new version & keept the old config files.

I get this error when I click on sign guestbook

MySQL Error : Query Error
Error Number: 1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'SET session_id='8b91bad56e461d39449d88dbf9d1f1c9', validate_key='qeVPhLM', times' at line 1
