I am glad I found this forum as I thought I was going nuts and I could not remember my password. My Guestbook (2.3.1) has been hacked.
I searched the forum and I am still confused. I am not a "prgorammer" so a lot of this is unlcear to me.
I tried Carbonized's reset script, but I got " parse error, unexpected T_ENCAPSED_AND_WHITESPACE, expecting T_STRING or T_VARIABLE or T_NUM_STRING in ..........line 48" error.
Has this file been updated or fixed?
I also tried reading through the posts about using PHPadmin to modify scripts, but I am unclear. Is PHPadmin a program? I found some files called PHPadmin, but its just a bunch of scripts. Where do you get PHPadmin?
Which file is the "guestbook database", I don't see one actually named that.
Thanks in advance for helping me with all my newbie questions.
I am using Dreamweaver MX for everthing, so when I open the scripts they just come up in Dreamweaver and I am not sure what to do.

I think I found PHPadmin. I put it on my side and go to the index.php file. but I get this error
phpMyAdmin tried to connect to the MySQL server, and the server rejected the connection. You should check the host, username and password in config.inc.php and make sure that they correspond to the information given by the administrator of the MySQL server.
I am totally lost and stuck now

Sounds like your passwords are all messed up. Do you know how you were hacked? Did you have html enabled?
Check the config.inc.php file... but you need to know your database password.
Admin config.inc.php file:

It says HTML code is disabled. I am pretty sure I was hacked because I have entries from "Paxil" with his website being a site on where to buy Paxil drugs.
I am pretty "lost" at this point

If you are running version 2.2 or upgraded to 2.3.1 but put your old sessions.class.php file in there then you are susceptible to the login exploit.

No, I always started with 2.3.1.
Carbonize, has your "reset" script been updated?

Sounds like you are confusing Spam with hacking.

I think I am getting spamed and not hacked... except that I am pretty sure my username and password have been changed.
