up and running fine for the most part (great product BTW!)

Problem:

Poll runs for a few days (expire set to never)
Then it just stops. (disabled in admin panel)

creation date reads 31-Dec-1969 days 12035

I am pretty sure i am not time traveling

But this has happened twice in a row

what gives ??

Well i find it sad that no one can offer a suggestion or idea.

Here is what i have found so far:

BTW i am using the advanced poll, php version, on a linux server runnig free bsd, apache, php 4.2

the problem appears to be that the scripts cannot handle an outrageous amount of activity.

i had over 3500 votes in 48 hours

about then is when it would shut down the poll

i actually caught it in the middle of going tits up

i had about 20 items to vote on, and half of them dissapeared

steps i took when creating the next poll

changed the password (again)

set a timeout for votes (12 hours)

Closed the program not just the browser window
(there is no logout link or button) just an X like in windows
this seems to be the logout

set an expire day

results:

much fewer votes ( so obviously people were going nuts on the votes )
better real results
it seems stable after 48 or so hours

conclusion:

i don't know, i am new to php
is there a file locking issue with php like there is with cgi ?
if so, is there a way to fix it ?
does it just go tits up after 3500 votes ??
should i have set these settings like i have in the first place??
if so then a little text file on how to and why to setup would have been nice

allrighty then
I see that a lot have viewed, but none have posted
i wouldn't have minded if SOME ONE had said SOMETHING

seems i was not outa my tree
poll is still running flawlessly with over 2600 votes registered

so my thoughts on how to fix it were correct

if you guys had already known how to fix it, you can just call me a dumbass, its ok

if not
then i hope my input is usefull to someone

Active: 12054 Days, 17 hours
Created:Wednesday, 31 December 1969 23:00

but i only got 570+

Well I can see I'm on my own here.

I installed Advanced poll because it was so highly recomended. I needed something robust and reliable. This fit the bill, but now I am on my second 1969, issue.

My solution has been to copy the text file using FTP and then reenter the data and the votes. This is a ten day voting for a publication, it has gone down twice in one day. Please help! Apache, PHP, text version, Linux.

So I am spending all kinds of time making new polls. What gives? This is a great script, just need it to work under stress.

When you create a poll there is an expiry time at the bottom of the poll creatoin page, there is also a box saying never tick that and the poll never expires. But if you've done htat it SHOULDN'T expire and become deactivated.

I noticed that when I'm trying to make an 8th poll, it just refuses.

When your in the admin panel, and try to create a new poll... It won't show up in the poll listing.

When I check the source in the polldata dir, it seems that it has changed the questions & answers of the 7-file...

It just refuses to create an 8th file... why is this?
