My guess is that the frames around the guestbook confuses the path.

http://www.proxy2.de/forum/viewtopic.php?p=13890#13890 explains how to find the Base_Url and to change it.

How do you alter the code so as to eliminate guests' option to upload images?

You can turn off picture uploading in the General Settings tab of th eadmin section.

thanks. too bad I never figured it out. I can post photos using ag code but is there a way to deliniate width?

No I'm afraid. All the guestbook does is look for

and turn it into
<img src="imageurl">
