i was wondering how i put this guestbook in my webpage. i downloaded the PHP and MySQL although i got no clue how to use it (or install it for that matter)

You have to install a webserver (e.g. Apache) first.

can't he just find a webhost that supplies the php in its package.. there are even some free ones out there
