I am installing guestbook 1.5 on a site. I retooled the html pages to match the layout of the site and uploaded everything according to the readme.txt but I'm still getting an error message.

I was wondering if you could look at it and tell me what I'm doing wrong. I'm afraid I'm a bit of a newbie with this. Any help would be appreciated.

Here's the site:

What is the error message? May I ask why you chose 1.5 over 2.3.1? No MySQL database?

ps. You need to chnge the title of your pages.

Thanks, I knew I forgot to do something on my list...that was the page titles.

Right, I picked the simpler version because I didn't have a database. I'm also more of a designer rather than a programmer type, and I don't have the coding knowledge to handle it. I suppose I could rope my husband into helping me with it.

Anyway, the error message is:

"Cannot create ID file guest_id.txt in /home/usr/you/book. Please check your base directory."

I'm assuming I need to reconfigure how my file structure is setup, but I'm not sure what they're telling me. Where should I put the appropriate files and those that reference them?

Best person for this is Amber as I have never used 1.5. Is there a base directory variable in the settings? I'm sure you need to put the guestbook in it's own folder and CHMOD it to 777 or somthing like that.

Check if there is a config file to set any filepaths.

Try changing the line in addentry.html to include the complete address:
