I'm using the non-DB version of Advanced Poll. I uploaded all the files and changed the permissions as instructed. When I go to the admin page I get this error:

Does anyone know what this means or how I can fix this?

Looks to me like the include path is wrong. Auron is the Advanced Poll expert but does it let you configure the paths?
