Download 2.4.2 and extract the files from the zip. Copy your current database information from your existing config.inc.php to the one in 2.4.2 as it contains new information. Upload the new folder to your website and then visit misc/update_db.php in your web browser. And that sould be it apart from copying any uploaded images from public folder to the new one.

See what it says in the config.inc.php file as this should give you a clue as to where the database is.

Click SQL in the LEFT pane. It will open a new window. Then click the Import files tab in the new window.

If your host uses cpanel, and most do, then you have phpMyAdmin. You can find it in the MySQL section. It's just a case of dropping the tables and reinstalling them.

Error Number: 1045 Access denied for user 'Niels'@'localhost' (using password: YES)
That says your database username or password is incorrect.

Well to wipe the database you would need to use something like phpMyAdmin or I could write you the relevant scripts. The alternative is to install a second guestbook and alter the tables in config.inc.php to use different tables. Just replace all book_ with book2_

Ah you mean the database username and password. You will have to set up a new database account, give it access to the correct database then put that information into the config file.

nope it should still be there.

There is a password reset script in the misc folder of Advanced Guestbook 2.4.1

Yes my host runs one of these for use on their forums. I personally see no need for it now most IM's have presence. I think only MSN is lacking it.
I did come across something when looking into AIM presence about a way of doing it and specifying your own online/offline images.

Yes there is. Yahoo has always had presence. Look at my guestbook on http://lazarus.carbonize.co.uk

I've just implemented the presence into my copy of Lazarus so will see how it goes. Not that many people use AIM these days. They are trying hard to make a come back but I think it's to little to late.

The AG CAPTCHA was broken a long time ago judging from the spam complaints in here. Thankfully they don't seem to have broken the Lazarus CAPTCHA yet.

I was thinking of putting it in Lazarus but they say it's for a single site only and whilst it works for any site right now they might start enforcing the rules eventually. Also the images for away etc may be confusing as they are not really AIM related.

I find it near impossible to get anything done in Russia.
