the admin license is there, in the "admin" folder. as for the config file for base url, I have the entire url, because I thought maybe doing making a relative reference would mess things up. It's:
would it be better to do a relative reference?

the uploading is all via asci as it said in the instructions. I can edit the access rights and they all look ok via ssh session, my ftp client, and the campus Access Panel. well, I can't see the rights for each file via the access panel, so I'm thinking it might be that... regardless, the access panel help guide says if you need more options, to SSH in and change via chmod. grrr, that's what I'm doing

the servers that it's hosted on are *nix as far as I know. I've played around with it some more and I'm pretty sure now that it's the server, not my installation. I found that even though I changed all the permissions (via SSH) to 777, 666 and whatnot, I had not changed the "access rights" via the universities web-based access panel. I've since set the correct folders to allow all users total access to the folders that needed "777" rights. That got me into the general settings of the poll, but it still doesn't see the three default polls, nor can I create new polls (it allows me to set up a new poll, but when submitted, it disappears). I'm thinking that it's access rights on the poll files themselves, but the school's Access Panel only allows me to adjust rights for directories, not individual files. Via SSH, it all looks fine, but I think there's something more to be worked on. No matter what, it definitely looks as if it's the university servers that are causing the hang ups.

ok, I'm really dumb, I don't know why I didn't try this before:
i uploaded and installed AP on my other website, and it seems to be working perfectly. Soooo... I'm guessing this means it's something with the other webserver (university server) that's causing the problems. The permissions are exactly the same, so I'm wondering what it could be. Any suggestions on what I could ask the IT Admin at my school? Thanks.

I'm still stuck on this same problem. I've reinstalled (deleted and re-uploaded several times) and I still can't keep the login past the first page. I've tried going directly to "general settings" as has been suggested, but still no problems. I was able to get the images working (by adjusting the string in the config file) but that wasn't really the kep issue I'm having. Any more suggestions would be awesome, I'm at my wits end. If anyone wants to play with it, you can see my issue here:

I'm using the text based version, not the DataBase version. I'm going to try and reinstall it again. Once I can get into the admin panel, then I'll follow your advice on the images.

I'm completely new to Advanced Poll, and I tried a forum search but didn't fine a response I needed.
Basically I uploaded all the files as needed, changed the permissions and everything. The images don't load, so I'm assuming it's a path problem (I don't know where to change the paths either, there are so many files). But, worse than that, when I login to the admin panel, it keeps asking for my username and password no matter what I try to do, and then just loops me back to the main admin panel again. There has to be something simple I'm doing wrong, any help (or a link to a post that has already addressed this) would be great.
Thanks in advance.
