is there any info on how to use the daily counter with mysql? theres no info in the readme and i have not found anything on this site on how to set it up nor is there .sql file to load.

Well, the IP ban hasn't worked, I'm still getting the postings and they are all from: ip-217-172-172-230.inaddr.intergenia.de

I've now emailed Tiscali with copies of the messages, maybe that will help.

Now I understand the purpose of the imgae verification script I'll have a goat installing that.

It's late and I can't explain it exactly. If you look at the MySQL doc, search on OLD_PASSWORD. You'll need to set it so it uses the old authentication method. I had this same exact problem twice this week, once installing vBulletin and tonight installing Advanced Poll. A very poorly documented problem. Finding out how to fix this made me age five years from frustration

im new in php, i tried using your script in our org's website. All seems to be alright but after clicking the Submit button... the return page to the entry page doesnt display

Thanks for that. I've implemented the hack to get ip instead of domains and also already have some words in the banned list. I don't allow image posting or comments.

The latest posts all come from the same domain: unfortunately I've deleted all the emails with the full domain name but it was a .de TLD at 212.172.172.230. Ripe won't tell me who that is!

I'll know if it works tomorrow, as I've been getting several messages a day from them.

I've recently successfully switched my guestbook to a new host. The problem that I'm having is that some of the images that were posted aren't showing up. I checked the public folder on my old host, and for some reason some of the permissions are 644 and some are 600. I tried changing the 600 ones to 644 using filezilla and the cpanel x program through the host, but it doesn't change the permissions. It acts like it does, doesn't show me any error messages, but the numbers don't change. When I download the files, they look like they've been downloaded, only they are 0 kb, and obviously don't open up when I click on them. I've searched through these forums and others, but I can't seem to find any explanation.
What the heck is going on?
